稲刈りも終盤を迎え、汗ばむ陽気の中にも秋の気配が感じられる里地里山。稲株が残る田園風景の中に、赤い花を咲かせる圃場があります。
The rice harvest is nearing its end in the satoyama—the rural landscape of mountains and surrounding towns. Though the air is still warm enough to make us sweat, it carries the subtle scent of approaching autumn. A field of red flowers stands out among the rice stubble.
高嶺ルビーという品種です。
気温が下がると糖分を蓄えてもっと赤く色づきます。
ここは美郷町のみずほの里ロード沿いにある「そばきり長助（仙北市）」の*赤そば畑で、種子栽培を行っています。生産から提供まで一貫して手がける店主の鈴木さんは、「赤そばをもっと知ってもらえるように」とピンクのノボリを立てています。
This is red buckwheat (akasoba) field used for seed cultivation, located along the Mizuho-no-sato Road in Misato Town, is owned by the soba shop Sobakiri-chosuke (from Semboku City).
The shop owner, Mr.Suzuki, who manages the entire process through production to serving, has erected banners hoping to raise awareness about the akasoba.
見る人を喜ばせ、食べる人をうならせる鈴木さんの赤そばは、12月からお店で提供予定です。
Mr. Suzuki’s buckwheat noodle, which is not only visually charming but also impresses the diners, will be served at his shop starting December.

＊赤そばとは、赤い花を咲かせるソバの品種「高嶺ルビー」のことです。濃いピンク色の花を咲かせ、その色が宝石のルビーに似ていることから「高嶺ルビー」と名付けられました。打ったそばは、ほんのり淡いピンク色になります。
