Key details

In this old private house, which has been maintained while being renovated, you can enjoy every part of the history of Kakunodate, a town of samurai residences. If you go further afield, you can enjoy a sunset on the Sea of Japan, a sightseeing tour of Lake Tazawa, a visit to the Hot Springs of Nyuto, a walk in the beech forest, a visit to the Warabi-za Theater, a local train trip on the Akita Inland Railway, and several "small trips". Around the guest house, there are flower beds, a vegetable garden with wild vegetables and greens, and garden trees such as chestnut trees and persimmon trees, allowing visitors to experience the countryside in all four seasons (reservations required). It is a 5-minute walk to the cherry blossom trees along the Hinokinai River bank. After enjoying the history and samurai residences of the town, this farmhouse guest house is the place to stay in the aftermath of the experience.

Message from the owner

This farmhouse guest house was built in 1885 and is marked by its thatched-roofed crooked house. The house is surrounded by a vegetable garden with seasonal flowers, wild vegetables, and vegetable fields, which let you know the arrival of the seasons. Please spend a peaceful time at the house in Kakunodate, the little Kyoto of Michinoku.
